![]() The best advice though is to try it if you can. Stem's are very much a personal choice but can 'stretch' you out if you want, and seatposts are made with a bit of layback. The mistake people seem to make with MTB's is to buy one that's too large rather than too small. I'm 6ft and a bit with an average inseam and ride a 19" Medium Giant hardtail, with the post a fair way out. ![]() I would have thought you'd be okay with a large (what do they term that in inches). If the frame is the same, I'd get the cheaper model and replace bits as and when they wear out as it gives you the flexibility of choosing the specific parts you want. But for less the $500 I figure a little on the small side is livable. On the XL sorry to say they only have large left and small, I know small is out. Good idea or save my $$ for buy something better? My plan is to upgrade components as I kill them. Is it true that the frame on the 5.0 is the same as on the 1.0? If you want index finger shifting, you have to go Shimano. You can get twist shifters to work with your SRAM derailleur, though. Second question: Nope, SRAM shifters actualte with the thumb for both shifts. I am assuming I can always do the larger stem, seat post thing as long as it is 90% correct? Compromise I know but for short jaunts on fire roads I would think it ok. Although, I think the older 1st generation I-Drives were 68mm BB shells (the other possible size on a mtb). August is the hottest month for Fawn Creek with an average high temperature of 91. ![]() Thanks guys, I have a 36" inseam so I think I should be just about right, as this my entry bike to see if I like riding off road I am thinking it should be good. In Fawn Creek, there are 3 comfortable months with high temperatures in the range of 70-85°.
